There are some very interesting ones in Lidl at the moment. I have never bought or cooked them before. I haven't a clue what to do or what they taste like. Do they all taste the same under their very different skins?

I imagine they taste like pumpkin. I've never had any, but I'm a lover of pumpkin .

I've never had pumpkin either!
They can be hit or miss. I normally peel pumpkin and cut into big chunks and boil, like cooking potatoes. Can be roasted. They have a sweetish taste.

I might give a small multi coloured one a go, just to see what it's like.
Or can be stuffed, the same way as pumpkins.

I roast butternut squash - very tasty (peel and cut into 5cm cubes first)
Get a small one cut the top off and scoops out the seeds and roast with the top back on when roasted fill with a thick cheese sauce with either chopped gammon or bacon and serve with crusty bread. Rather with a spoon so you can scoop the tender flesh and sauce together
I've started drooling now Rockrose ;-)
