Mega Dose Of Vitamin C.
27 Answers
I have just found the following advice on the internet while looking for help on coping with the flu.
"Take a 'mega dose' of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is proven to shorten the duration of a cold or flu once it's started."
Please can someone tell me how much a mega dose is?

It's available on Amazon and eBay. There are other, cheaper products. I only use it when getting symptoms of impending cold. Like now, as I'm fighting one off...it certainly reduces the symptoms. Because it goes straight into the bloodstream it doesn't cause the possible stomach upset that pills or capsules will at high doses.
A litre of orange juice would give me severe upset.

I google it and buy it from the cheapest place; Amazon do it but they are not the cheapest! https:/ /www.bo dykind. com/pro ductdet ails2/6 095-alt rient-c -liposo mal-vit amin-c- 30-sach ets.asp x?Refer er=Froo gle_Alt rient-C -Liposo mal-Vit amin-C- 30-Sach ets& ;utm_so urce=fr oogle&a mp;utm_ medium= price%2 0compar ison&am p;utm_c ampaign =Altrie nt-C-Li posomal -Vitami n-C-30- Sachets &sh opping= 4off40& amp;gcl id=EAIa IQobChM I0rXs1a z83wIVZ ZPtCh0q jQRvEAY YAiABEg K7XvD_B wE This site is usually where I go. A box is expensive, but I try and justify its health properties and make room in my budget for it. A box lasts ages as I only really take it when I feel I'm getting ill.
Also there is 53mg of vitamin C in an orange. That means you'd have to eat 20 to equal one tablet or sachet of vitamin C. The dose I give myself (3 sachets) is the equivalent of 60 oranges. Obviously I don't benefit from the fibre or roughage but if it's vitamin C you need, the Altrient C is the best way to take it.
Thanks for that link, Scarlett. I'm currently using a bottled, liquid version...but it needs using in 45 days. Not good if you only take when needed. It really has lessened my cold symptoms, so it's worth it to me...particularly as I work in an environment where everyone is carrying some kind of bug.
