a lot of Dutch words but I don't think any of the grammar of Dutch has come into English, which is mostly constructed like a mixture of Latin and German
English is a germanic language so the grammar is largely germanic. We have been invaded by so many other nationalities over the centuries that words from their languages have entered English - most notably French following 1066. We have also taken on board many words from the language of countries we conquered,
As Dutch is also a germanic language it would hardly be surprising if many words were similar in the two languages.
How about double dutch !!!!!
Most things with a double a, like ardvaark, I would think.
aardvark was originally Dutch but came to English via South Arica (Afrikaans).
