I have an 08 Renault Scenic,I am having problems with DAB reception, could anyone tell me if the factory fitted aerial is "fused" because the problems started when I had a noise sounding like a fuse "blowing" and that was the start of the problems.
I have had a "twig" and a windscreen aerial fitted and I have a new radio fitted by Halfords
(Pioneer DEH-X8700DAB).

I would appreciate any advice
Many thanks

Check that the push in aerial connector is pushed all the way in to the socket on the rear of the radio.

Many thanks tonyav, I have double checked all the connectors and wiring and nothing is loose.
It's not obvious to me whether you've just replaced an FM radio with a DAB (so are new to DAB) or have replaced a factory-fitted DAB radio with a "better" one.
If the former it could just be that DAB reception is poor in your area - I gave up to it.
Aerials are passive receptors of radio waves, and are never 'fused'.

I had a DAB Radio and a DAB aerial fitted, this is the second DAB radio I have had fitted before that it was a factory fitted radio and aerial.

4candles thanks for the info.
So, this is your second DAB radio and the first one worked OK? What aerial did you use with he first one?
Am I right in thinking that it's Renault that have metal in the windscreen for some reason? heated windscreen? If yours has, it might be better to fit your windscreen aerial to the rear window - those windscreens are reputed to affect sat-nav reception, so probably affect radio reception too.
Halfords may have fitted a DAB splitter, a powered component, behind the set and it may have failed.

Windscreen aerials are next to useless at the best of times and as BHG notes, Renault screens are problematic. There is most likely a black area around the mounting for the mirror where things like gate openers and the like can be fitted.

What you really need is an aftermarket DAB/FM aerial, fitted by a specialist car audio installer, not Halfords.
They're expensive but worth it.
