The Up And Coming Oscars Actors And Actresses Awards

Award ceremonies such as the Oscars still have best actor and actress categories. Surely in this day and age of equality where some female actors dont even like to be called actresses they would be pushing for just a best actor award. Of course then that would open another huge minefield of whether sexism was involved if a male was picked two years in a row for example. What can they do?

I suppose they could call them Best Female and Best Male Actors.

But why separate them at all? i thought the idea was male and female were equal? Therefore an actor is an actor.

Best Performer or Best Portrayal would solve it, although not really because almost all scripts are male character centric still, but in the fullness of time probably tat would be the way to go.

males would be picked for 20 years in a row. And everyone would be amazed.

The reason could simply be that the more categories there are the more interesting the awards ceremony is.
