how come porn keeps showing up in my computer history

My partner uses music chatrooms and we seem to get lots of tacky porn pop ups.The history on the computer has a large list of porn sites which we have not went on.Is it possible for them to register in the history list as result of from being online all the time.

As far as I'm aware it can only get in your history if you've accidentally clicked on the pop-up and therefore visited the site. I use broadband and websites only go into my history if I've visited the porn site in question - being online does not in itself create entries within the history of your web browser. I had a spate of the same problem (porn sites appearing in my internet explorer history) but then I remembered it was, in fact, me. So much choice, so little time...

LOLLOLLOLLOL nice one Dave. I have a prob abit like that on my addy bar one site will not go even though I have deleted the history the cookies and temp folder!!!!!!! Its been on there for about a year

Thanks for that.Ive checked the history and there are loadsa jpegs and gifs so they cant just appear there by themselves eh ?

Methinks, your partner may not be covering his/her tracks properly.

It was a hard lesson the day my wife discovered the history folder on our computer. It was just research, I tell you!

Why don't you tactfully suggest your partner tries "WindowsWasher" from Webroot.com

it is possible for the information to be cached. Each site you visit, data gets cached from the webpage you hit in your temp folder automatically so it doesnt take as long to load next time you visit the site.
