I’ve just bought a morello cherry tree for £4.99 from home bargains BUT I don’t have a garden!
My intention is to trim it and pop it in a pot in my conservatory - I currently have it soaking in a bucket of water
Now - when would be the best time to trim it from approx 6 foot to approx 2 foot?

Thanks (as always) in anticipation

It will live in a large pot , but don't expect it to produce any fruit ! They need plenty of room for the roots to spread out if they are going to give fruit.

I can manage without fruit for a year or probably more but I would like to think it will fruit when planted out

Thank you for your answer eddie
Late summer is cherry pruning time. If you are going to take the whole head off it then I'd wait until late summer next year to get the tree well established with plenty of strong new roots. Don't prune now as you risk the tree getting a bacterial infection which will kill it. My cherry trees are in 50 litre tubs in the garden and I get a fruit harvest from them. They need to be watered and fed. I have also got apples and pears in tubs.
you do know that morellos are sour don't you?
