Hello all. After a slow start I've made good progress with only 5 left to go. However I must have gone wrong as I seem to be in a death loop with nothing fitting. Unclued 11d I am pretty sure is J-; unclued 13 d seems to be F-; unclued 19d seems to be the proper name M-. But now I cannot fill 27a 'OED founder new viral flu infected(9)'. 29a and 36a remain mysteries. Can anyone offer a hint for 27a or the unclued 13d so I might break the logjam please?

You're right about J, F and M, Piffleworthy. Have you got the three letter prefix bit yet? What might J, F, M suggest to you.

29a is very easy, just not in Chambers.
36 a Pretty well-known. Parsing a bit fiddly. Start with "county" and work back, perhaps?

Thank you bathtub...not a word I'm familiar with and it not being in Chambers led me to dismiss it at an earlier stage. Didn't the Spectator always used to say if an answer didn't appear in the BRB? Anyway, all done now, thank you all for your help!
