I Don’T Wish To Sound Like My Dad Or Grandad, But.....
40 Answers
How miserable and samey is most of today’s pop music? Hardly any decent tunes, inaudible lyrics, stupid hand movements that suggest they affect the voice but of course they don’t, predictable dance routines especially by female artists in barely there outfits that make a mockery of the Me Too style campaigns.... How much of it will you remember with affection, even play, in decades from now?

Its just mumbly semi coherent karaoke. much of it is so dreary its not surprising young people are so depressed.

Rockrose - // This comes round every year, my parents used to complain about the stuff I listened to in the 80's and 90's and one day my granddad said to my dad - 'we used to complain about the rubbish you listened to in the 60's and 70's'.
Basically whilst its not your taste it is the taste of the current crop of youngsters or else it wouldn't be played. //
I do believe even so, that pop music is in a downward spiral.
As I pointed out, it's not supposed to change the world, but even given the built-in disposability of the pop song, they are seriously underwhelming right now.
It's not that I don't appreciate the modern pop is not aimed at someone like me, that is a given, it's that even allowing for that, it is so bland and vanilla as to be utterly pointless.

I like all music, from underground to music in the charts.
I find music situational, one song i would listen to driving to the beach on a hot day another i'd listen to sitting at home in a chair in the conservatory whilst it's raining.
One song which you may hate, you may love in another situation / vibe.
I couldn't live without music, a good way to get into modern music is to listen to the radio, then you feel like you're a part of the up and coming scenes.
So many generas in modern age also, maybe you just don't like modern pop?

I love music from all decades and there is some great new music around. However, I totally agree that there is not so much memorable happy music as I remember from other decades. No party music or uplifting music. My main problem now is the amount of screeching female so called singers that hurt my ears. I also like to hear the words of songs and I can't hear them now with a load of groups and singers. I am old but not deaf!! I suppose there was a lot of rubbish music back in my younger days, but we only remember the tunes that stood out as good.Isuppose this will always happen as time goes by. Thank goodness for Ed Sheeran, Rag and Bone Man, George Ezra, Sam Smith and other talented new singers. I can't think of any current female singers that I actually like!
