Is it possible to completely remove office 2000 from your machine without a trace of it left behind?

Remove it using add/remove programs in the control panel. Then delete the c:\program files\microsoft office directory You may want to look in the c:\program files\common files for officey looking directories and delete them. If you can't uninstall office, then microsoft have a cleanup utility that will remove all registry settings for applications installed using the windows installer.
