I dont have much spare time. the wife works mad hrs sometimes days sometimes evenings sometimes thru the night. i couldnt commit to a night class or group. anyone any ideas??? this is the most contact i have with normal people. gee that sounds sad, guess i am just a sad lonely friendless bloke. :-{

If you aren't already, you could get involved in any local mothers and toddlers groups or at a playgroup, where parents are often asked to help out. OK, so it would be mostly mums you'd meet, but there are a few dads come to our group, and are made very welcome. One guy (a fireman) works shifts and his wife works 9-5, so we only see him and his daughter irregularly ntu ti still works quite well. Think him and one of the other dads now play footi together and share the odd beer of an evening. Kids are a great ice breaker when you move to a new place (i moved to a very small village 5 weeks before my son was born, but 3 years on, we both have lots of very good friends) and you will always have something to talk about with these folk (ie your kids lol). It also gives the additional benefit of allowing your child to meet the children they will go to nursery and possibly primary school with. Good luck. x
