Freeing Up Storage

I have over 1000 photos and numerous videos which I want to keep in my iPad mini Photos Collection. If I want to free up storage on this iPad, as I have 1.1GB left at the moment, iCloud say I can Disable and Delete the photos and I understand that this will stop me using iCloud storage. I will then have 30 days to download the photos again. I need to know, if I Disable and Delete these photos from iCloud, will I lose all my photos stored on my iPad?? I realise iCloud is a backup but I have backed up all these photos on my laptop. I really don't want to lose them on my iPad though. I am not technical so easy answers please, Tia all.

I have Dropbox and find it’s really good. It’s frees up all your storage space.

Download google photos store all photos there. Still accessible on your iPad.

After downloading on Dropbox or Google, can I then Disable and Delete my iCloud without losing photos in my iPad Collections?

Yes, smurf. Once they’re safely in Dropbox they’re safe.

If you want you could delete one of the photos that you know you have uploaded to Dropbox and then check back to make sure the pic is still there, in Dropbox.
