fitted fridge/freezer plastic thingies?

Does anybody know where can I buy the plastic bits you screw to the edge of the fridge door which hold the wooden door so that it becomes a fitted unit...when you open the wooden door, which looks like part of the kitchen cabinet, it opens the fridge as well...I didn't know you had to wait to open the freezer after you've opened it already...been to BQ, robert dyas but nothing....cheers!

I'm sorry to say that I think this is harder to do than you imagine. There are three types of appliance - free-standing, built-under and built-in. I think you are trying to convert a free-standing to a built-in. Manufacturers make built-in units to specific dimensions so they fit they 600mm wide std door width. They charge a premium for the privilege, but it includes adjustable legs to shift the height of the unit up/down to fit the kitchen units around it, and has an air vent at the bottom to allow air in and under the unit to help cool the condenser coils at the back of the unit - this has to fit with the kick-board that runs along the bottom of a run of kitchen units. Built-under units are intended to fit into a run of kitchen units but they retain the original (white) front door of the appliance. Having converted a free-standing dishwasher to fit as a built-under unit (including lifting it off the floor and making the kick-board look right underneath) I would never attempt it again - too much fiddly fitting work to make it look right. Sorry, but you may as well bite the bullet and change the fridge.

Agree with BM, and especially about the ventilation - an absolute must. Have a look in B&Q, etc, to see how the units are vented.

Yes!!!!!!!!!! My husband and I have spent the past couple of days tearing our hair out trying to find these fittings - we too have a freestanding fridge which is now built in to match the kitchen units, but which has a door that opens seperately. Because of the fact the fridge is freestanding, we realise that we can only fit the integrated opening to open the fridge part, not the freezer.... however it is better than nothing...... and the little gizmos you need are at

Thank you so much Shazeroo! it's nearly what we need, but the ones they have on the website are screwed on the door, the ones I need should be screwed on the edge of the door so it's an L shaped little thingy that holds that plastic bar which is screwed to the wooden door but inserted into the edge thing!
