If someone dies before claiming a lottery prize, can the prize be claimed by the inheritors of the estate?

Don't know for sure, but my answer would be yes. The money is not the money until the lottery has validated it. So the inheritance would only be the ticket, not the money, which would save a lot in inheritance tax.

An interesting question. Not being a lawyer I don't know; however, I would think so as the ticket is part of the estate.

Going by section 4 of the rules here, it looks like it can. Providing the ticket hasn't been signed.

My view is yes. Even if it has been signed the executors step into the shoes of the deceased.
