Daft questions about my cats!

When I stroke both of my cats, they throw me a look (of disgust probably!) and start cleaning themselves. Is this usual or am I just pretty repulsive.
One of my cats can't be bothered to miaow properly. Sometimes she does silent miaows. Once again is this usual?
Sorry for the stupid questions, but they just bother me!

Cant help much with the stroking bit! but a couple of my cats do silent miaows, we also have a kitten who warbles & sounds more like well i dont know really! Her voice just tends to shake!

With the stroking bit, at a guess, i would guess maybe they just prefer not to be stroked? With K.C, are warbling kitten, she only likes to be stroked when she wants it, other wise she will roll over and attack your hand!

I've got seven cats. Some wants a lot of fuss and some don't want it at all. Some wants to get brushed/combed.

My black cat loves to lick himself so clean that his fur gets so shiny, he's one who does not like being stroked (I guess its the natural oil we have on our palm or something).

For the miaowing part, it's natural. I know whose miaows is from whom in this house. :)

We had a cat that did silent miaows for most of the time. It could miaow properly when it wanted to be louder, though.

I think all cats do the 'oh my god, you've touched my fur' thing to some degree. My own opinion is that it's part being bl**dy-minded, like cats are, and part to do with the scent you transfer to them.

maybe you catch them when they've only just finished grooming themselves, its the same as if you've got clean clothes on and they jump on you with wet paws, its sort of "Oh for God's sake...I'd only just cleaned that!!"

Many thanks all of you! It does make sense about the cleaning bit to think that they are getting rid of natural oil rather than showing disgust at my affection!
Wiggal, KC sounds cute, perhaps her voice is just breaking in or something! Bandit my cat also warbles as well as silent miaows, but it is mostly at birds! And like yours cat, Catso, Bandit can be quite loud when she decides she is hungry.
