Not talking politics here - forget the recent wars in the middle east, just look at the record for our species. we are the only species with a conscience and yet we are the only species that kill our own kind for reasons other than immediate survival.

Thanks for the support curly. I said somehting similar at work the other day - about mankind always being at war - and nearly caused a riot. Some of them seem to think that this is a modern day curse. It isn't , it's just that the amount of people that get killed has escalated and the weaponry has become more sophisicated. There is archaeological evidence that, as a species, we were killing each other way back in neanderthal / cro magnon times.
As far as Voyager has gone, in Galactic terms it's not out of the front gate yet. It is extremely unlikely that it will encounter any other life forms. It may well drift from Solar system to solar system for the rest of time but the chances of any alien intelligence finding it are negligible. Image a probe that size passing through our solar system somewhere how would we know. The distances are just too vast to comprehend and that is in our local area!
on a serious note there is that guy, holmes rolsten 3rd, who created the deep ecology or deep conservation movement. they believe that space and its wonders are to be viewed for their beauty and not tampered with. space probes, missions to the moon and star wars defence systems are considered unnatural and therefore immoral. they seem to forget that humans are a thing of nature too, and our exploration of space is just an extension of us exploring the environment in which we live
