not really sure what else les flics could have done. the protestor drew attention to himself by calling the police at 7-22pm (maybe because no-one had noticed him before that?). in that call, he announced that he intended to do himself harm, and used words that suggested he was armed. (he wasn't, but they didn't find that out until later).
