Crazy Sign

Do local councils pay someone to sit in an office all day just to see what new sign they can come up with, waiting for traffic lights to change yesterday, this was the new erected sign, Quote, Think of your actions on a red light, turn your engine off. un-quote. Now I know that some new cars have stop/ start, but if you have an average car and you turned your engine off at every traffic light your battery and starter motor would more than likely be shot in 6 months. What clown in council thought this would be a great idea to reduce pollution?

Nicebloke1, I can pretty much guarantee that if one of the regulars had posed this question regarding a ridiculous suggestion to turn your engine of at a stop light the post would generate some interesting comments and opinions. However, since you posted it, you get barraged with asinine comments including the usual irritating 'chortlesplu tters'. Keep...

No cliques a far as I'm concerned, I just read latest posts and post accordingly. I suggested initially you might benefit from doing something nice since you seem so unhappy, but hey.
You may approve of the fact I've just been to an awesome seafood restaurant for lunch however, since I know you have an interest in food. No-one here is your enemy, least of all me, and no cliques operating that I can see.

Can I clarify the position of the lights I were at. This is a busy road junction a few yards out of town, yes yards. the sign is placed about 20 yards from the lights, so in fact only the first four cars from the lights are going to see the sign anyway.
Its common sense I would think to any driver that's stuck in a long traffic jam for any length of time to switch off for pollution reasons and to save fuel. My point is really that councils have gone sign and white line mad. Sorry to be so miserable, moaning and whatever else.

Just looked at the video Mamy. No not a lot. Big Brother in action, attempts to extract more money from their favourite cash cow because they've no conscience. If they want to cut pollution they should extract their digit and plan residential and commercial areas properly to minimise commuting, and sort the roads out so necessary traffic isn't stuck in the first place. Anyone stuck for a time will save fuel anyway without needing to be nagged, and short pauses aren't worth cycling off/on anyway.
