computer restarting

i put a question on here the other day asking if anyone knew why my computer keeps restarting or disconnecting from the internet when i am on on various different websites somebody gave me a link to website which scans your computer free and repairs any viruses i downloaded that and it said no viruses found another answer i gotwas to set the dateonmy computer back toa different date i doneboth and my computer is still keeps restarting and disconnecting any other ideas before i smash the thing up thanks

I don't know if this'll help, just personal experience. My computer kept shutting down in the restart mode, like you, I was almost ready to bin it, after taking advice from this site, which did no harm, it wasn't a virus, I paid a computer engineer to look at it, turned out that the fan blowing strong enough to circulate all round, and it was overheating.

Your problem may not be exactly the same, but it sounds as if its connected to the fan, if you can, i'd get an expert to look at it.

Lonnie is so right. Do get it looked at as the processor is the heart of the computer and anything wrong it will throw a wobbly. Our XP did this over and over again. Not only that but gobbledegook kept appearing on the screen then it would shut down without any warning.

In desperation we took it to our Computer Man who found that the mounting screws were coming loose and just hanging by a thread .....and the fan was overheating causing the shutdowns etc.This computer was pretty expensive but it just shows you how badly some are put together no matter what the price.

You can download a free program called Speedfan that will monitor various temperatures in your computer. This should give you an idea of whether it is a heat-related problem. It's not that easy to set up for novices though, and you may be better off just getting a professional to look!
