At last night's line of duty. Can anyone explain it to me. I love the series but I'm finding it harder to understand the story line.

"Bullet-proof car?" I thought that, too. They did say security had been stepped up after the previous hijacking.
I took the "no casualties" remark to mean that there were only fatalities.
The gang leader said to the gang just before the hijack something like 'you know what to do). All the bullets were fired around wheel level. (I'm not going into the credibility of this and broken legs / shattered bones / damage to major arteries).
I was surprised at how the occupants of the police escort cars made no effort to get out of the cars and return fire!
For anyone who hasn't watched the previous series', they are all on iPlayer at the moment, well worth a watch as there are references and links to the earlier ones.

I wondered about them not getting out of the cars and no casualties but wondered, either if there is a gang of police in on it, a bit like the female officer who was shot in the first episode talking about others on the take. Or, it was some kind of set up from the police, side of things as a potential target (or manufactured to be one).
