Just be sure to keep his bedding clean or anywhere that he lays as fleas lay their eggs on carpets etc....not on the animal. Also give him a good grooming,. as this will dislodge any remaining dying fleas.
Hope this helps.

If it is the spot on stuff for the back of the neck, this usually works by killing any eggs that the fleas leave, so they don't hatch out. They don't tend to kill the fleas they have on them, or prevent them getting on them.
I would shampoo your dog with a flea shampoo (or any sort if you can't get any) and get Frontline spray from your vet, which is a 'knockdown' treatment, killing the fleas straight away. This shoud last up to 3 months, but can be done again in about four weeks, if the animal is in contact with lots of fleas (i.e. catches a hedgehog or runs about where there are wild rabbits, or cats sleep in your garden).
Personally I don't like the spot on stuff even though I sell it (some people want a cheap version on the market) but I believe its a waste of time. I'd rather spend out on a bottle of Frontline which will last for several 'sessions' with one dog.
Make sure you shampoo the dog first, to make sure the old stuff is out of his coat.

Advantage is about as good as Frontline - they have different active ingredients but in general they kill the fleas as rapidly as each other.
Advantage is a spot-on treatent that kills adult fleas and larvae in contact with your pet. When you first put it on it will kill over 98% of fleas in the first 12 hours, and any fleas that find your pup after that will be killed within 2 hours and won't feed. Advantage won't kill ticks.
Frontline is also a spot on that will kill flea adults and larvae, and ticks on your pet. It takes about the same length of time to kill all fleas, and usually kills reinfesting fleas before they bite.
The 'slow and dozy' fleas were very probably dying!
Don't forget to treat the house as well as the dog, Frontline and Advantage are effective against some of the flea population in the carpets, etc., but it is alwasy best to treat these areas separately too.
As a side note, frequent bathing or swimming can reduce the effectiveness of Advantage!
