This might seem ( well, tbh, it is) an odd question. Does anyone know how many people enter the cryptic jumbo competition? I was thinking that the prizes would be great for HisNibs ( well maybe not the crossword solvers dictionary. Might be thought insensitive) when he goes off to be a student. But if there are huge numbers of entries it's probably a waste of time.Hence the query.

You've as much chance of winning as anyone; and if you won you could keep the crossword books for yourself. It only costs a stamp, cheaper than the lottery. We have no way of knowing how many entries there are.
Thanks to both of you. Interesting that even well informed people like yourselves don't know.
I think I shall have a go. As cashier says it's cheap enough and I would really love to give him the prizes (and keep the dictionary for myself. Great idea!

Good morning. I missed your last message,Scorpiojo, last night. On my way to bath and bed. I don't think adding more crosswords would go down well in either of the two places it matters! But thanks for thinking of me
