I currently share a flat with one other person and he pays his half of the rent into my account from which the full amount then gets taken out of each month. If he decided to move out suddenly without any notice, is he still legally entitled to pay me his share of the rent for the 2 months notice we are meant to give the landlord? If he doesn't pay me, can I take him to court in the worst case senario? Both our names and signatures are on the contract. Thanxs for any replies!!

Read the contract. It should tell you.

If it's silent on the subject then he must pay you. You can go to court if necessary.
Usually you are both severally and jointly liable (should say in your contract). This means if one of you defaults on the rent the LL can chase either or both of you for the money.

I think you would have needed to have a separate agreement with him to ensure he paid his half of the rent.

If he absolutely wont pay his half for the notice period, personnally I'd just pay half and tell the LL to chase him for payment - though the LL may and can decide to pursure you for the money.

Make sure you get his new address.
