Does A Throat Culture Make You Choke And Gag?

I'm probably getting a throat culture next week, and my gag instinct is very strong.
I'd like to know, how deep does the doctor put the depressor in the mouth, is it just in the back of the mouth or in the throat, and from someone who had it done, how bad does it feel?

The tongue depressor is just that...it depresses the tongue......it doesn't go as far as the back of the throat. The culture swab is just temporary.....that is at the back of the throat, but lasts less than a second.
No big deal.
