that's fine K
do you know if we have any ABers entered in The Times competition?
I don't E but as we remarked before we could enter a strong team.

I agree - it would be wonderful to discover one day that an ABer had won...it's still nice to hear when ABers win the weekly prize crosswords from time to time...
I have thought about entering the Times Xword Championship, but it seems to me it could be a fairly expensive way of being ritually humiliated! 15 to enter ( 4 shots at that) + an extra 10 if one actually turns up and takes part. It usually takes me just over 30 mins to finish a Times puzzle - the last 2 Championship entry ones took me 34 & 35 mins. I know the real experts finish them in under 10 minutes so I'm obviously not actually trying to win the thing, but I wonder if it might be fun. What does anyone else think?
I think the big difference would be trying to solve the puzzle under examination style conditions. In the comfort of my home I usually am able to complete the Times in under 20 minutes but put me in the room and the mind goes blank-especially at my advanced age!
