When an act of courtesy by me is acknowledged by the other motorist raising their hand to me I always feel automatically compelled to acknowledge their acknowledgment by raising my hand back to them. Is this o.k. or will they think I'm mad?

When I stop to let oncoming cars through, and the driver doesn’t thank me for it by holding their hand up. I hold mine up anyway. For a silent sarcastic way of saying that’s OK mate You carry on.
