So Is The E U S S R Election In Effect A Second Referendum?
38 Answers
Several pundits on the TV this morning have commented that if you add up the votes for the pro brexit/pro remain parties it almost exactly mirrors the original referendum. So we have the answer, 3 years after the original vote the country is still pro brexit so can the SGB stop whining about a second referendum.

It makes folk realise that MPs, or many of them at least, consider themselves not the servants of the people but their management, who know best. That democracy isn't for the people ITO but only for interaction between MPs.
Aye, a second referendum will sort everything.

Because a second referendum in an effort to use the EU's appalling and indefensible tactic of 'vote until you get the answer your superiors demand' will make everything done and dusted. Trusting that it will be the same as last time is no reason to pander to those who won't accept they were in the minority. We already have a result; trying to get another will just inflame any fair minded individual. Having the gall to suggest it is bad enough as it shows total disrespect for the existing democratically arrived at result.
"Think a second referendum is imminent, bring it on lets get it done and dusted".
Another referendum won't solve anything unless the majority of MPs want it to. They have proved that already.
I hope all the Tory MPs who voted against the PM's deal, and represent a constituency that voted to leave the EU, gets kicked out at the General Election, assuming they have the guts to stand.

I don’t believe in holding another referendum simply to see whether the result would be the same.
Holding one like that was bad enough. Why would we want to repeat it?
What I’d like to see is another referendum used to get us out of the current mess. Put a concrete proposal down, one if the ones parliament has rejected, and see if it flies.
Whatever it is it mustn’t number a No Deal tho because that is effectively voting to go off in a huff.
Even Farage doesn’t talk of a No Deal Brexit but a Clean Break Brexit - CBeebie maybe for short:-)
Although that may just be his way of being not entirely open.
