ive had an allegation of a very minor assault made against me , i stress alegation, its going to court , magistrates, i have a solicitor, whos on holiday , am i entitled to see those witness statements from the police including my own ?

Yes. I had a crown court trial 6 yrs ago and got printed witness statements from my solicitor beforehand. (I had to ask for them)

and ask your solicitor when he comes back - this is all governed by straightforward rules - dont do anything without your solicitor

You don't need to get too bogged down.

Before you appear to enter your plea you are entitled to see the "Initial Details of the Prosecution Case". This should include all the evidence the prosecution intends to rely on to convict you. This should include the statements from any witnesses. There is no reason why you cannot see your own statement though you may have to specifically ask for it.

At the first hearing you will be expected to enter your plea. If you plead Not Guilty your trial will be held at a later date. Your solicitor should guide you through the process.
