Have to make a journey to Highbridge near Weston Super Mare - can anyone advise how near to Highbridge the coach goes and whether Weston is the nearest place I can get to?

Highbridge is about 10 miles from Weston. If you're not travelling alone, a taxi would be by far the easiest way to get there. It's pretty much due South down the A370.

Would I be better to go to Bridgwater and get a train to Highbridge? Arriving Saturday evening and then leaving Monday morning.
Possibly. You could also travel from Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads and get a train to Highbridge from there. Check the times carefully, though.
There is a coach that stops in Highbridge at 21.20. It leaves London Victoria at 17.30.

There are coaches at other times that go to Weston SM and Bridgwater. You can get a train from either of them to Highbridge quite easily; only one stop either way.

So would it be the coach that calls at Weston Super Mare then Highbridge then Bridgwater? I mean is it the same coach so I could book direct to Highbridge (sorry brain is addled looking at timetables/ticket sites!). That would be brilliant if it is - then just need cheap accommodation in Highbridge!
Just to bring together some of the above information (and, hopefully, to add a bit too):

National Express service 040 generally runs only as far as Bristol. However the 1730 (daily) service continues to Burnham-on-Sea, calling at Highbridge (Church Street, opposite the cemetery) at 2130. (Due to route variations, the arrival time is actually 2135 on Monday, 2145 on Friday and 2120 at weekends):

The return service runs at 0908 daily:

At other times you'd need to travel to Weston-super-Mare (see links above for timetables) or to Bridgwater. There are 3 services per day to Bridgwater on route 502:
https://timetables.nationalexpress.com/routes/NX/502/London-Westward_Ho/O/pdf
Return services:

Weston-super-Mare is 11 miles from Highbridge. Bridgwater is 8 miles from Highbridge.

Just being nosy, what’s going on in Highbridge?
PS: If you need rail times for the service between Weston-super-Mare and Bridgwater (calling at Highbridge and Burnham station), you can download the timetable from here:
http://www.upl.co/uploads/1358464B041559248974.pdf
PPS: If you book in advance, the train fare between Paddington and Highbridge and Burnham isn't too extortionate. (Typically £47.30, or occasionally £43.50, single without a railcard. £31.20, or occasionally £28.70, single with a railcard). There's usually just one change of trains required.

Yet another PS:
If economy is important, Megabus can get you from Victoria Coach Station to Bridgwater (in a little over 4 hours, with a change at Bristol) for just £5.79 :

Thanks Chris, spot on yet again. Just a dog seminar for Rough Collies.

Looks like it will be bus to Bridgwater on the way down but coming back from Highbridge - saves a long wait at Victoria.
Anything's better than a long wait at Victoria Coach Station! (It's one of the most depressing places I've ever visited!).

First Bus No 21 links Bridgwater with Highbridge. Here's the Saturday timetable:

Alternatively, if you'd rather book a taxi, try these firms:
Bridgwater Taxis 01278 424422
Bob's Taxis 01278 422442
H Cabs 07093 302503
