cannon printer £30 black ink for same printer £23,surely there should be an insentive to buy their make so make the ink cheaper.

Did I pay £100 for an HP OfficePro something or other all-in-one-one? And did its running costs (ink, print heads etc) cost more than that a year? And this for someone who only uses the printer for the Listener and EV crosswords, and the home delivery grocery order. So you can see the business model here.

Now have an HP Envy all-in-one which is very economical on ink and, after two years, hasn't incurred any further costs. So, Jordy Boy, the same company can produce a more honest product.

The HP Envy series inks are just as as expensive, but the model isn't a gas guzzler like the previous one I had.

My own experience of (the admittedly far cheaper) remanufactured cartridges has been variabl as in some of them don't work. I now only use originals.

HP knows when you put a cheaper ink in. (and gives you a right telling off)

Jordyboy, I use one of these, a Canon iP7250.

It uses 5 cartridges. Costly, you might think, but not a bit of it. A boxed set of 4 x 5 cartridges on Amazon costs £14. The printer cost me £65 and it is ONLY a printer, not a fax or copier. And it's wi-fi. Well worth it if you're looking for a decent, affordable printer. But I defer to Chris, who is quite an expert on such matters! :o)

I’ve not long bought an Epson WiFi enabled £35. Takes separate cartridges. Get my inks from Asda. £5 for the black. £13 for a pack of coloureds. Works fine.

my Epson colour cartridges (one for each colour) tend to last about 6 months.

thank you caran so thats what i am going to do when i run out of ink go for refils thanks again
