And did its running costs (ink, print heads etc) cost more than that a year? And this for someone who only uses the printer for the Listener and EV crosswords, and the home delivery grocery order. So you can see the business model here.
Now have an HP Envy all-in-one which is very economical on ink and, after two years, hasn't incurred any further costs. So, Jordy Boy, the same company can produce a more honest product.

Jordyboy, I use one of these, a Canon iP7250.

It uses 5 cartridges. Costly, you might think, but not a bit of it. A boxed set of 4 x 5 cartridges on Amazon costs £14. The printer cost me £65 and it is ONLY a printer, not a fax or copier. And it's wi-fi. Well worth it if you're looking for a decent, affordable printer. But I defer to Chris, who is quite an expert on such matters! :o)

^^^ My current printer recommendation would probably be the Canon TS5051 all-in-one model. It uses 5 separate inks, for higher quality and better economy, and PC World currently have it on offer at just £49.99

A full set of all 5 inks, from my favourite supplier, costs just £9.83 (or even less if bought in bulk):

However if no scanning facility is required, 10CS's recommendation is also a good one, with the printer priced at £49.99 at Argos

and a full set of 5 inks available for £7.75 (or even less in bulk)
