Why do I have to sign into this at least once a week? I thought this had been sorted months ago.

It's either because your browser isn't retaining the relevant cookies or because AB is using cookies that expire after a certain period of time. (It could also be because AB has found new advertising revenue through passing on tracking cookies from yet another source. The EU regulations require AB to get your permission every time there's a new tracking cookie placed on the site).
The new changes to the data protection laws last year were an absolute joke. Prior to the changes, there was barely any obligation to allow cookies on most web sites. Now virtually every one says you must allow cookies to use their web site - in the interests of your privacy. What a laugh! I always delete internet history anyway before logging off, which includes cookies.
