The US showed a boat in the Gulf of Oman, but there are literally tens of thousands of small boats in the area so the boat could have come from anywhere.

He has a point - knowing that Iran probably attacked the tankers is different from knowing and proving that they did it.
In a situation such as this governments should say nothing until they are sure. The situation in that part of the world is volatile and we should be careful. We don't want to start another war.

Of course he would. Never one to criticise or accuse a terrorrist regime is he?
God forbid his feet are implanted behind the doors of No10. Does he not realise that British Intelligence matters are shared between our allies equally on a need to know basis and Corbyn doesn't need to know especially as he has proved to be unreliable and appears to be against British interests. The US have their fleet in Bahrain and constantly patrolling the straits. A load of Iranian Navy gunboat activity was spotted and recorded on the eve of the attack by US Navy vessels in the vicinity.
I suppose Corbyn is ignorant of the fact that there are increased sanctions on Iranian oil by the US. It gives a clue even to a foolish old Trot.

I have no interest in defending Jeremy Corbyn, but in this case at least the situation is far from clear. The Japanese owner of one of the damaged ships, for example, has stated that he does not believe that the ship was damaged by a mine, which goes against the official US position. Not that this necessarily exonerates Iran -- who fired the bullets and shells, then? -- but at the very least it means that the full story is far from understood yet.
It does matter, meanwhile, that US policy, under Trump and his advisers, has sharply turned against Iran -- John Bolton in particular has been seeking regime change there for some time. At the very least, then, they could be forgiven for jumping very quickly to the conclusion that the Iranian government is responsible -- it plays into their narrative, after all, does it not?

I believe that Jeremy Corbyn is absolutely right in his assertion that blaming Iran without clear proof is a dangerous position, and could be seen as sabre-rattling at best, and outright aggression at worst.
That said, he should have the basic common sense to keep that widely held opinion to himself - voicing it simply makes him look like an unpatriotic attention seeker.
It's about diplomacy, something which increasing evidence indicates is a concept that Mr Corbyn has yet to grasp.

It would appear from this report that the Iranians took away an unexploded device from the side of one of the tankers.
If it was made in the good old US of A, don't you think that they would be shouting it from the roof tops?
