How do you refer to the weather? I know what it means if it is in the nineties but have to sit and work out what its going to be if they says it is going to be in the thirties - is it just my age?

Why would you both converting when you know what it means in 'old money'?
I think most of us buy our fuel in litres and quote our fuel consumption in miles per gallon. Car tyres are sold with the diameter in inches and the width in cm.
I prefer Fahrenheit. Whether it's an age thing, well I'm 67 I just think it sounds hotter in F.
Aren’t planks of wood still sold in mixed terms? As in “I need 1.4 metres of 4” by 2”.
yeah I have the hots for metric
27 ' C hot - 81 in old units I think
30 very hot
37 yikes - cats start panting ....

anyone who retains imperial measure is a fool
we used to have to do engineering probs in imperial measure and it was unnecessary torture
dumb g - 32 instead of 10
lbs force when lb isnt a force it is a mass
o lardy dar
All I know is that once it reaches anything north of 20C I pop the zip of my fleece down a bit to let some air in.
I may even untuck my vest.
And don't forget to take your sandals off and remove your socks:)
As soon as the temperature goes above 20 degrees (Celsius) around here men of all (mostly vast) shapes and sizes take their shirts off. I really wish they wouldn’t. If my husband did I’d refuse to walk next to him.
I'm in the middle. Grew up with "90's f" in the States, then had to learn "30's c" here in the UK. I'm still confused.
Yes, clover, I would know what a 1.35kg baby was like (very puny!)...as I said, I've only used metric units since I was 11....school, university and on into employment.
i'd still prefer to ask for a pint rather 0.568261 of a litre
Lbs may not be a force but lbs force is. Not difficult.

Fº in the cold too. Ice may be around at 32º. Also not difficult.

After a lifetime of Fº becoming instinctive, getting the same way for a second system isn't likely to happen. All I know is that 21 to 23 was usually an adequate setting for the car climate control.
///...just get used to the metric system....?///

Why ? It was devised for the dumbs.
Canary was going to add your same answer for converting temperatures. Funny what just sticks somewhere in the back of your brain.
Alternatively use an online conversion site.
Cloverjoe when i'am measuring or buying materials I use both metric and imperial systems, depending on what suits me at the time.
Cloverjo given your 1.35 Kg baby would be very small, under 3 lbs, would need some serious medical help IMO.
Oh dear! I just picked that number at random. Obviously I’m more used to pounds and ounces.
