Hi all, been waiting in hospital side ward, since 11.00 am. I'm in for a general anaesthetic for relatively simple procedure. I'm so tired, bored, hungry, thirsty and got headache! Still, mustn't complain.... :-)
Just letting off steam! :-)

A few years ago, I was on the day surgery ward for a minor procedure with local anaesthetic. I had to be there for 9 in the morning and didn’t have the procedure until 4 in the afternoon so I know exactly how you feel.

Poor you, Milo. Think I'm going to be the same here!
Are the rules different between having a local or general?

You're not going to believe this! ( or maybe you will..)
Female surgeon just came to see me, pulled the curtains around, and told me very apologetically, that they won't be able to fit me in as they've ran out of time...Then asked to see my wrist band with my name on, and realised she was talking to wrong patient!.... She was just going to order me a sandwich and cup of tea.. :-)
So where is this "wonderful NHS"...the "Envy of the World"?
Your treatment Patsy has been unacceptable, below the standard of which would be expected of a general hospital in the UK hospital.
For those that say the NHS is wonderful and have had wonderful treatment, then i say that should be the NORM, not wonderful as you are paying for it and paying handsomely.
Sqad, I totally agree.

Its been cancelled!
You're right sqad. What the hell is happening?
I am a very patient person but my husband isn't! He rang earlier and let member of staff know what he thought...
Anyway, if there is cancellation, they will ring me. Other than that, soonest date available in next couple of weeks.
☺ Patsy - maybe the operation is something that Sqad can talk you through. Your husband just has to follow the instructions.

I'm sure it will be okay - just take some Ibuprofen and you will be fine. ☺

I hope that you manage to get the treatment rescheduled for a date not too far in the future.

Thank you Wolf x
NHS Over managed by incompetent management. Lack of culpability for indifference and cock ups. My local hospital is dire. Shame that some dedicated staff get dismally let down by gross inefficiently, and jobs worth stupidity. Modern Matrons, ha, forever in meetings. Farcical and frightening.

I think you're right, David. It's is frightening...
