People seem to have lost the ability to say they disagree with someone's opinion and civilly explaining why, far easier to call them names or compare their opinions to body parts. Perhaps it's easier for them, who knows?

Best ask that of the aggressors.
Oh yeah?! Well maybe you should shut up about my life! You don't know me!!!1!
Because when people air their opinions, you forget the rest of their life, such as, are they OK in themselves, physically, mentally, are they happy, what expression is on their face etc.. are they sat with a coffee or a tea or maybe in bed with their partner? and instead, you focus solely on the opinion you're reading. If you dislike it, you may attack it, making it seem like you're attacking the person. In reality, as you say, it's not that hostile.

People read things how they read them, but that isn't to say that's how it's typed.

Reading a thread a day later can emit different vibes than you saw the previous day whilst being involved.

Debatign on the internet isn't for the weak hearted.
^^ Yeah, same to you with knobs on!
the cloak of anonymity apparently
you arent the first person to ask this

There is a lot of shrouded aggression on here today. Must be the weather.
It's all tongue in cheek - we're all pals really.
dunno Frank, wanna make something of it?
I've been battling with someone on twitter, regarding a peregrine site. I pulled her up for posting absolute drivel. She didn't like it, got personal and ended up getting banned.
melv, never argue with idiots.
Wasn't talbot was it?
It is the sense of anonymity and protection that cyber-contact gives to people.

Rise above it, you will never change it.

The question was an observation, not a complaint. What fun it would be if, for one day only, everyone had to be their on line persona. Some, I fear, would be exhausted by 10 am.
