Why won't the useless bunch of lickspittles just damn well talk to each other???

My house move is draaaaging on so much because of these parasites - I've suggested that I sit down with my seller to discuss any issues and thus have it sorted in minutes, but both solicitors have said no (presumably because it will highlight that they confuse and hinder the buying and selling process as opposed to adding any real value).

I know things need to be in writing, but agree verbally and then back up in writing - writing every three days with another tiny enquiry just leads to further delays!

This won't help this time but it might be useful for any future house moves you make:

The root of your problem lies in that dreaded word 'solicitors'. In future, seek out the services of an independent licensed conveyancer. The firm I used had a rule that they would always phone me within one hour of receiving any fax or letter from the other person's solicitor, to discuss the contents. They also agreed that, assuming they could get a response from me, they would always get a reply off within two hours and immediately put a copy of the original communication, together with a copy of their reply, in the post. They kept to their promises. When the other person's solicitor starting delaying things, they sent him daily faxes and repeatedly phoned him. A copy of every fax and a log showing the date and time of every call was always promptly posted to me. As a result, the whole thing was sorted out very quickly.

Incidentally, unlike solicitors (who often charge for every letter or phone call), this was all done for a flat fee which was arounf one third of what a solicitor mighthave charged.

Moral: Avoid solicitors!
