I find Boots one a day anti allergy tablets the most effective. Non drowsy. I'm in the garden in the shade with Hilary Mantels Bring up the Bodies. Better late as they say - it was given to me 7 years ago.

I've tried them too Rosie, I think I'm going to have to take one at night if we are away

// I have put out small dishes of water in my garden for the birds and cats //

Brilliant idea, get the birds and the cats together, I mean, what could possibly go wrong? ;o)
They're obviously allocated different time-slots, Balders. Tut.
It's every animal for itself i'm afraid.

I do have a bird stand though, a tall one where the cats can't reach. The water bath is right at the top of the stand, above the seed, so they don't poop in the water when eating! This helps keep it far off the floor also though away from cats.
Spath... I have put out small dishes of water in my garden for the birds and cats

That is so smooth of you, any dowsing water for vampires.
I get the sniffles as well now Bobbisox, never used to until about 5 years ago. Best cure......down the prom and spend a couple of hours sea side. Tree pollen is the killer. Love the heat, I just stop eating and stay hydrated. Spent a couple of hours sitting on the sands reading(for the 3rd time) The Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Now just further rehydrating and sorting my Broad Beans and Peas out. "She who must be obeyed" hates it, and to further compound her misery had a tooth out earlier. May sleep outside tonight on my fishing campbed. (^_*)
I would have loved this heat a lot more when I was younger. Not so easy when you're working and driving in it. I have a paddling pool out for the dogs, which they are enjoying and have to walk really early or late through woods at the moment.
The best cure for hayfever is actually exposure... ignore it and carry on... x
A "sleep expert" on the BBC news this morning advised people to open their loft doors a couple of inches to let the heat rise into the loft and keep the bedrooms a bit cooler.
Looking forward to September! I just dont like July and August or hot weather.
After being in a kitchen for 6 hours, it felt rather nice out. ;-)
spath - if you could come here and put out some small dishes of G&Ts, it would be much appreciated - 70% Tanqueray, 30% tonic, plenty of ice and a good wedge of lime......
Uncomfortably hot here, today. I felt as though I was melting! It was so nice popping into Tescos for some frozen vegetables. I felt like climbing into the freezer :-)
My doctor's surgery phoned today to cancel an appointment I had for tomorrow. I had already seen the weather forecast so it saved me cancelling and I keep the moral highground ;). I do not appreciate hot weather one bit.
I keep having showers, 3 today so far, but its not running cool enough, so I get out, needing another shower
I'm in central France and it's worse here that ever before. Serious worries about drought and loss of life. Probably global warming.

Hi Bobbi, a few weeks back i was at the Docs for something completely different. While there I asked if it was unusual to get your first ever attack of Hay Fever at my age, she had a quick look and said 'I think you have Dry eyes' go and see Boots Pharmacist, I did and spent about £6 on eye drops, no problems since, hope that helps.
