The recent thread on this has been removed, so here’s a new one without the advertising. I would particularly like derekpara to repeat his recollections of Arnhem if he would be so kind. I could have read much more. So very interesting.

Just back from Gdansk, but while I was there I happened on a free town-tour in English & learnt a lot of interesting stuff; the failed, but brave defence of the post-office by the postmen against the Nazis, Schopenhauer's birthplace & the residence of Mr Fahrenheit (of thermometer fame).
Best of all & found on my own, was Hans Memling's 13th cent. triptych "The Last Judgement" in the national museum (if you can find it).
