because society and tradition has developed in that way and because so far no one has managed to break through the barrier of suspicion that if we oppose these traditions then children will grow up to be gay.

This practice is fairly recent; until early in the 20th century, both boy and girl babies were dressed in white, probably to allow clothes to be passed on, given that families were bigger in those days. Moreover, I have seen one reference which suggests that originally the colours were the opposite of the current practice - ie pink for boys, blue for girls. After all, there's nothing intrinsically feminine about pink, or masculine about blue - eg many military uniforms were red in the 19th century;and the traditional colour for nurses' uniform is blue.
