Can you give any context for your question? Ian Hislop, editor of Private Eye, and Mohamed Al Fayed, owner of Punch, disliked each other. In 1999 Hislop accused Al Fayed of hiring an investigator to steal from his dustbins. Maybe the answer to your question is related to this.
something related to the millennium?
millenniumballs?
Question Author
It's a question in the Private Eye 1500th issue quiz. A Private Eye feature that was copied by Punch in 1999. I remember the mockery at the time but not what the feature was. Can't find the answer in the 50 years of Private Eye book or the 1999 annual - I don't have all the mags - or on line. Got a feeling it's Colemanballs.
