Knee Pain
4 Answers
Fiancé began complaining of a sore knee yesterday afternoon. It got to the point where he was REALLY complaining and was questioning what he had done. He hasn’t hit it, fallen or been bitten. He began to limp as was struggling to bare weight.
I gave him some Paracetamol and Codeine as at the time it was all I had to hand. After a warm bath I had him elevate it. Later after some ibuprofen I put a cold compress on it and had a touch. It’s red hot compared to his other knee, it’s swollen and a tad red. He says it’s sore but not as much as he can walk and move it better than yesterday.
Does he need to see his GP or let it be...I know men are fussy so and sos and won’t go to the dr unless it’s like one step down from falling off.
Many Thanks

Whatever has happened is unlikely to get any worse during the weekend so he should simply exercise caution regarding use of the leg and rest it as much as possible, including elevation. Having said that, I know of someone who spontaneously (no obvious cause) came down with an infection in the knee and, yes, put off going to the medical profession until he was basically immobile and, it is said, so swollen that his lower leg looked like he had filariasis. He was told had he delayed much longer he would have lost the leg.
