Hi there, My mum had a fall today, it was just like she slipped over something rather than blacking out or fainting. we had to get the paramedics to pick her up as she has bad hips and couldn't pull herself up. They did some tests on her and said the ECG was abnormal, they said left branch bunch or something like that and wanted her to come to the hospital. she does have high blood pressure and is on medication for it, she had no chest pain or cardiac symptoms, she is going to make an appointment with the GP in the morning. she is 72 will she be okay?

Just come out of St Georges Hospital after a blue/two ride on Saturday.
I have a history of cardio vascular disease and last year had a quadruple bypass.Turns out that my old Atrial fibrillation that was knocked back to Sinus Ryrthm about 4 years ago is now Atrial flutter.
No big deal. Hopefully will have another cardio version or ablation in the near future. Still got a pulse but my God the Isobromide tablets they gave me on discharge (Monday) give you headaches from hell. :0)

Thanks Dave but you sound like the memsahib. :-). I sure as hell don't wish to be a selfish individual and become a continuous burden on the NHS but I say,a chap has got have a bit of enjoyment in his dotage.I gave up baccy 18 years ago and still miss it. :-)

Your mother is 72 years of age and from what you have said has high BP.
Bundle branch block has many causes as no doubt the link provided above will highlight.
The most commonest cause is reduced blood supply to the heart ( ischaemic heart disease) secondary to her high BP.
I don't know what medications she is taking for her high BP but that will be thew key to further treatment.
Yes.......it shouldn't be a big deal and yes, she will be all right.

Thank you for the replies, in answer to your question she is on Losartan which the GP has upped to 100mg as she is still showing slight high blood pressure. The GP said it was Left bundle branch block and has referred her to a cardiologist because of her high blood pressure. she has been feeling fine and has no chest pain or heart symptoms.
