You only have to get on a plane...
Question Author
I see. Just get on a plane, eh?
Not a short drive then.

That'll learn you to get into a conversation with Trump.

They are Trump supporters, actually. I've had invites from them to go to Carmel, Maui, Portland and a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway. If I could get there, yer know, "just jump on a plane", it'd be great. But I'm not keen on foreign holidays, as good as it sounds.
Look at it as a little hop further than Malta. You ,like me ,go there often enough. :-)
A once in a lifetime offer? Go while you can - borrow/rent some clubs when you're there & you don't have the worry of taking your own.

Assuming you can afford the trip in the first place, just enjoy the whole experience - don't end up in an "Oh, if only..." state of mind.
But, it could be a fun trip if you speak to a certain French inventor ;-)
If you can afford to go, then do so. A chance in a lifetime.

Thanks for the comments, folks. Retro, I go to Malta for a memorial event, not a holiday really. I only book for four days at most. Malta is nice, for sure, but four days is enough for me. The people that invited me to America are relatives for whom money is definitely no object. That makes me a little uneasy to begin with. For someone who says he doesn't like foreign travel, I've been to Florida 11 times, and to be honest, it wouldn't have bothered me if I'd never been. The tourist trail there is really nice, but very narrow. Stray off it and you'll find that Florida is a dump with sunshine and a lot of dangerous people, so whilst the places mentioned may seem glamourous (and I suppose they are), I'm not inclined to want to go.
Nice idea, depends on if you like the people though. If it means good company and a game you enjoy give it fair consideration or spend the money on extra games on a special course or two over here.

Thanks Rowan. Might do that.
The golf is very different - lush fairways, the desert as the rough...Troon North in Scottsdale is a lovely course though - and a great hotel in the Four Seasons there (however a little pricey) There's also the TPC where the Phoenix Open is played and plenty of other golf courses - around Desert Mountain and Phoenix itself. Be careful of the time of year as at the moment it is baking out there.

Thanks DTC. Accomodation isn't a problem as I can stay at their house. I do fancy the golf though as they say I will be their guest and no cost!
If you don't want to go - and it's apparent that you don't - why did you post about it?

Did you just want opinions? If so, you got them.

Personally, I would make an effort to go - no-one lies on their deathbed thinking I wish I'd been on less holidays!
Question Author
I posted because, although not fond of foreign holidays, I am in two minds about this. However, there is no time limit for a decision. We'll see.
