For those kind enough to be interested.
Car hire company finally accepted responsibility after 2 emails and 3 calls!
They are covering full costs of car hire for the funeral and upgrading my booking for this weekend.

A good result, RR. It won't wipe out their initial error, which was pretty disastrous, but at least they're doing something to make amends.

Funeral is not until 22 August! Which leaves us in limbo until then.
Im angry that I did'nt even get 4 months with him!
I'm angry with the RAF as they stop his pension when he dies and do not pay his widow anything.
I'm angry that my darling dad had to suffer in this way

I am if I am honest awaiting a similar experience I received from the great and the good on here when my mother died.
You need not to let them get under your skin.
Getting yourself suspended won't do anyone any good. xx

annea its awful long time - in NI 3 days and thats it!
You can’t say * don’t worry the time will go in quick* because actually it won’t :-(
It's a horrid time to be dealing with extra nonsense so I'm glad you got some sense out of them.

Our "limbo" time was 2.5 weeks between death and funeral. During that time it's awful. Life is so "on hold". So I sympathise I really do. X
I bet you had a fire inside you to get the result you did, well done Rockrose. You were restrained enough not to name and shame the rental firm.

It is a long wait for the funeral, I am sorry to read that. Limbo is not a good place to be at the best of times ...

I'm glad that they have compensated you for their mess.

I am surprised that you have to wait so long for a funeral. Both of my parents died at the weekend and the funerals were within a few days.

My thoughts are with you, you were obviously very close to your dad. life really is unfair at times.

We could have had it 2 days earlier but there is always the worry the paperwork is not ready.
This is actually an improvement because we have a new crematorium, there used to be a 4 week wait.
