Hi, we are travelling to Australia and will be driving whilst there. We have just been told there has been a recent change in that we now have complete a permit at our local post office. It requires a photo, our D/L and £5.50.
I 've looked on the internet but most info is years old. It only mentions an international driving permit if your licence is not English. Can anyone tell me if any permit required

Both the Post Office and the Gov.UK sites say you do need this international driving permit to drive in Australia.

My daughter is currently down there and has had no issues with driving licence or insuring either of the two cars she's bought during her visit.
Maybe because she's Scottish rather than English though. :-)
I thought the only Aussie driving requirement was that your UTE could carry at least 100 slabs of VB mate. :-)

I knew of the International Driving Permit but that was for those without a UK licence. This new permit has only been infor a few months
