how do u get paid weekly monthly??
It's all contract dependant; if your contract says 6 months then regardless of your pay period, it's 6 months notice as that's what you've agreed to. So check that.

If you don't have a contract or it's not mentioned in that document, it'll be the same as your pay period.
Your contract will say whether you have to give 4 weeks or 1 month's notice.

It's valid from when you submit your notice not when you wrote/dated it.

I handed it in on the 24th my notice says one month i think, i get paid monthly
It is usual for full time permanent staff to have their notice periods determined by calendar month, rather than 'working weeks' weeks. So I agree with your boss. Unless you have a contract of employment which says differently.
Your boss is right if your contract says one month
You could phone ACAS on 0845 7474747 - they should be able to clear it up for you.
