For those interested, Bobbie didn't have his x-ray last week as he wasn't well enough to take the anaesthetic. He had it today instead and VD has been ruled out and a Stroke confirmed. There is no treatment except he is having steroid injections as he won't take his pills. The vet agrees with me he seems a happy boy, not in pain, (he was nudging the vet to stroke him), so as long as he stays that way we will continue to give him any support he needs. If things change then a different decision may have to be made but at the moment we are all happy. All except the dog who couldn't care less.

I am really sorry to hear about Bobbie, as you say he was only a young cat and should have had more time to live and have fun.

Life is unfair in so many ways, but my old granny used to say that the good die young - she was ancient when she died so there may be some truth in the saying. ♥♥♥
I've recently been reminded several times that life is *not* always a bowl of cherries. But the good times are reminders of that bowl. Keep the good memories with Bobbie in your heart...pick out one...like a cherry...when you need it. ((Hug))
I am so sorry to hear this ladybirder. You know you did your best for Bobbie. May he now rest in peace.
Love and pain are intertwined as you well know.
I share your pain, as I love my four cats so much but know that this is only a temporary privilege.
God bless you. X
Oh ladybirder. I'm so sorry. But try and take comfort from the fact that he had love and care til the end. Xxx

Some lovely words written here, so touching, thank you all, are you trying to make me cry:-). I've been clearing and cleaning all his stuff this afternoon. Two young relatives adopted two rescue cats last week so they are taking what they want and the rest will go to a cat charity. Good his stuff will help others.
An inevitable end to a slowly then rapidly progressive brain disorder.
I know how you feel, but could not share my grief with anyone, particularly AB as it was too personal for me.
Airborne, Lucy, Psycho and many others had to be put to sleep over the years.
We all grieve differently.
I hate to be horrible, but are any of you cat lovers meat eaters? I guess that I'll be attacked for being insensitive, but at least I don't connive in the livestock industry. I suspect that cows are at least as aware and sensitive as cats. But they are slaughtered daily in huge numbers just to feed the demand for burgers and steaks.
I'm sorry you've lost Bobbie, LB.
I'm sorry for your loss. I still miss my dog terribly and it's 3 years this Christmas since he fell asleep forever.

I'm sure you gave him the best life he could have wished for x
To add to my last contribution; I was very sad when our dog (black labrador/crocodile cross) finally lost her battle with old age, and I buried her with respect and affection at the end of our garden during my lunch break.
Sorry to hear of your loss Ladybirder, but your little cat had such a wonderful owner in you, who did everything you could for him. Sending you very best wishes.
It is the last act of kindness we can do for them - and better a day too soon than a moment too late. Cherish the wonderful memories.

Once again thank you everyone for your support. As to me now, I'm just feel sad because he so wanted to live.
