Adverts for 'chester draws' gets me foaming at the mouth every time.

I know that says more about me than the author.

Oh yes Marvel, the supermarket aisle blockers. And the people who are gazing at the cereals or whatever and plonk their pushchairs alongside.
People who say "Myself and Jim were in the pub" instead of "Jim and I were in the pub".

People who say they were "spitting feathers" (very thirsty) when they mean they were "spitting blood" (very angry).
Liverpool and Arsenal fans.
People who say breggsit instead of brexit. There is no G in brexit!! Even the BBC call it breggsit, drives me mad.
Long-D-itude instead of longitude.
The pronunciation of "showers" by both weather forecasters and presenters on the R4 Today programme. I don't know how to write it ... something like "shaz"

And reminded by the mention of supermarket aisle blockers: people who stand chatting right in the door of the supermarket!

People who use their shopping trolley to support their upper body, steering with their elbows, bums up in the air. Stand up straight!
I don't think there is anything that irritates me per say.
I walked past a sign recently that said, "Over 200 Gin's sold instore."

I wanted to take that apostrophe and shove it up the messenger's backside.
"per say"

:-)
Modern English baffles me sometimes (actually often). Having left the UK fifty years ago, (my sister left too) English is in a seventies time warp. My only real contact is through newspapers. On the occasional trip "home" it felt like a foreign language sometimes, especially in Glasgow where I grew up. Now I have no reason to return and feel slightly alienated. I still think I prefer the English I grew up with, but it's sad to see what's happened to our lovely language.
