They have so called security on the retail park near me, obviously to nab you with £100 fine if you over stay or your one wheel touching the white line. Today I see they have had a new uniform, very butch looking and some wearing dark sun glasses, albeit its been cloudy all day with some rain, they sure look like something out of Miami vice. The funny side is on the back of their new tops says ( Customer service officer ) ? what service would that be.
"Customer service" is a term which, by law, can only be displayed on the badges and uniforms of people who've proved that they've no idea about what it actually means ;-)
Your post reminds me of the signs that are displayed in some stores declaring "We employ security staff, and use CCTV, in this store to protect the safety of our customers".
So absolutely it's nothing to do with trying to prevent their stock getting nicked then?
Our local Tesco supermarket offers customer service, they employed a man to walk around the shop with a large sign saying If you need help ask me.
A lady asked where she could find a certain item and he said "don't ask me, I only started this morning".
These strapping chaps with there cool looks run a mile if they do see a problem break out on the car park. they look tuff on the outside, inside like a jelly.
