Away Supporter Ticket
As Norwich have returned to the Premier League they play my team Tottenham on 28th December. Not having been to a football match for about forty years or more I went online to look at tickets as I fancy going. Cannot make head nor tail of ticket buying - can anyone tell me if it is possible to just turn up and buy a ticket or how to go about booking one? Also how much will it cost - one site quoted £148 which I cannot believe is right.

I am afraid you are unlikely to get a ticket.

It is quite normal for the general public to get tickets these days. After the season tickets are sold, club members get priority, and very rarely any left.
Some clubs even give members points for each match they attend and the higher the points, the more chance they have.

There will be no chance of getting a ticket sadly. Not with the Spurs supporters as they will sell out to their season tickets.
And any tickets not sold to season ticket holders at Norwich go to members. I'm a member but even then I havent managed to get a ticket yet this season. Either too popular or my internet connection crashes and times out as the demand is so high on the day.
Any tickets you see for sale on the internet through any sources other than the clubs themselves are a bit suspect, regardless of price, approach with caution.

I think you belong to the same era as me, lankeela. In the 50s people went to matches to watch football; now they seem to go for a good fight. I used to support a club from a city a long way from where I lived and I used to go, with my mates, to watch them play the local clubs, just paying at the gate. Now they have to separate home and away fans, so it makes a spontaneous visit impossible.
